GRAYSON, KY- The Alice Lloyd College Eagle’s baseball team played the Kentucky Christian University Knights on Thursday in their final road game of the regular season. The contest was held in Grayson, Kentucky

The visiting Eagles started off the contest on solid ground as they posted two runs in the first inning. Juan Lander reached on a walk and advanced on Austyn Turner’s single. Later in the inning, Dalton Cornett drove Lander in on a single and Turner scored on a fielder’s choice.

In their first at-bat, the Knights put up four runs of their own as they were helped by five walks and one well-placed single.

Alice Lloyd cut the lead to one (4-3) in the top of the third on a homer to left field from Lander, only to see KCU answer with three of their own behind two singles and a double.

The hosts would extend their advantage to 13-3 in the fourth as they would score five runs on five hits and two walks.

ALC would attempt a comeback in the fourth. Bristol McGee, Turner, and Cornett hit a succession of singles to account for one run and Peyton Buford would rap another single to produce a second run. Unfortunately, the rally would end on a groundout and KCU would score their final run in the sixth. Over the final three innings, the visitors were unable to get any closer.

On the mound, Dakota Bowen went the distance for the win, allowing 11 hits and 5 runs while striking out 5. The Eagles used five different pitchers who combined for 15 hits, 9 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Karson Glancey suffered the tough loss.

On the day, ALC ended up being outhit 15-11, with two hits apiece from Lander, Cornett, Turner, and McGee.
