KNOXVILLE, Tn. – The Alice Lloyd College Eagle’s baseball team traveled to NCCAA foe Johnson University Royals for a four-game series over the weekend. Below are recaps of each contest.

March 30
Game One
ALC – 5 | JU – 3 

The hosts got on the board in the bottom of the first with two runs, but the Eagles responded with three in the top of the second. They would get three more huge runs in the top of the seventh and hold on for the road win.

Chance Cornett went 3-4 at the plate, while Austyn Turner, Dalton Cornett, Peyton Buford, Caleb Mills, and Bristol McGee added one each. Turner drove in 3 runs.

On the mound, Levi Martin went the distance to earn the win. He allowed 8 hits and 3 runs while walking 0 and striking out 2 batters. Chase White suffered the loss for the Royals.

Both squads recorded 8 hits.

Game Two
ALC – 4 | JU – 8

A 6 run fourth inning lifted JU to the 8-4 win.

Each club plated 1 run in both the first and second innings, but JU saw 6 men score in the fourth to gain some breathing room. ALC tried to retaliate with 2 runs in the sixth, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

On the mound, Max McCoig earned the win while Alec Carter suffered the loss as he went 3 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits and 7 earned runs. He walked 3 and struck out 3.

ALC was outhit 11-6. Dalton Cornett and Chance Cornett each had 2 hits while Wyatt Crisp lined a triple.

March 31
Game One
ALC – 10 | JU – 12

The hosts won a high-scoring affair as they scored 4 runs in both the third and sixth inning, and added 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth. ALC responded with 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth and 2 in each of the remaining innings but were unable to complete the comeback.

On the mound, Colt Williams earned the win while Karson Glancy suffered the loss as he went 3 2/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs. He walked 2 and struck out 1.

ALC outhit the hosts 14-9, but hurt themselves immensely with 5 errors. Kaden Rose and Bristol McGee each went 3-4 at the plate. Dalton Cornett and Gavan Rupe both had 2 hits with Cornett smacking a triple and Rupe lining two doubles. Garret Gay blasted a two-run home run.

Game Two
ALC – 9 | JU – 10

The Eagles hoped to earn a split but instead fell for the second consecutive game in spite of a valiant comeback effort. The hosts won a high-scoring affair as they scored 1 run in the second, 3 runs in each of the next two innings, 2 in the sixth inning, and the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.

ALC responded with 1 in the third, and 2 in the sixth. They went wild with 6 runs in the last inning to knot the contest at 9-9, only to see Johnson win in their final at-bat.

On the mound, Jonathan Howard earned the win in relief while Alice Lloyd reliever Erric Sexton suffered the difficult defeat.

JU outhit their foes 14-11 with Dalton Cornett leading the way, going 3-5. Issac Stevens and Peyton Buford each added 2 hits apiece, with Buford adding a double. Cornett and Bristol McGee each had 2 RBI’s.
