The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles softball team hosted the Rochester College (Michigan) Warriors on Saturday at Eagle Field. Following are recaps of each contest.

GAME 1
RC – 15 | Alice Lloyd – 4

The visitors scored one in the opening inning before the Lady Eagles answered with three in the bottom half. First, Jade Estep reached on an error, and then Caitlynn Ball walked. Estep scored on a wild pitch, and was followed by Samantha Sturgill, who smacked a double to bring home two more and give her squad a 3-1 advantage,

However, the Warriors scored three the next inning and added two more in the third.

In the bottom of the fifth, Alice Lloyd earned one back when Estep walked then stole two bases. She later scored on an attempted pick-off play.

Unfortunately, in the last inning, RC broke the contest open when several critical errors allowed them to score 9 runs and ice the contest. Rochester outhit Alice Lloyd 20-2 in the win

Pitcher Alexis Evans earned the victory, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Morgan Albury took the pitching loss as she allowed 10 runs and recorded 7 strikeouts. 

GAME 2
RC – 15 | Alice Lloyd – 2

The Warriors scored five runs in the bottom of the inning and got them all with two outs as they were helped by an error.

The Lady Eagles answered with two runs in their next at-bat. Madisson Minks drew a walk and advanced to third on a double from McKenzie Brewer. Both then scored on a double from Samantha Sturgill.

Jade Estep had a hit later but was left stranded on base

Once again, Rochester pulled away with 6 runs in the top of the fifth as they were assisted by an error.

Pitcher Brooke Snyder earned the victory, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two. Mercedez Gilliam took the pitching loss. She allowed 4 hits and 5 runs while striking out 2 batters. RC outhit the home club 15-4. Sturgill paved the way for ALC with 2 hits.
