Greenville, SC. – The NCCAA Mideast Region has released the 2017-18 All-Mideast Regional Women’s Basketball Team and Men’s Basketball Team. The coaches in the region vote on the squad at the conclusion of the regular season and announce the results during post-season play. Coaches cannot vote for their own players.

Five individuals were named First Team All-Region in both categories and five were named Second Team All-Region. Alice Lloyd College was well represented as four athletes were selected to this exclusive company. Senior guards Kayla Wilson and Miranda Wilson were both chosen to the women’s First Team while the men were represented by sophomore guard Blake Smith on the First Team and senior guard Austin Crisp on the Second Team.

Kayla Wilson finished the season averaging 12.8 ppg and was ranked by the NCCAA in the Top Ten in the nation in 3 point percentage (sixth at 46.5%), assists (tenth at 4.3apg), and assist/turnover ratio (fifth at 2.1). Additionally, she was twentieth in steals per game (2.2). She was also named First Team All-Mideast Region and First Team All-River States Conference after recording six double-doubles and being the only player in the RSC to register a triple-double this season. Wilson also helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 24-6 record and the first ever school appearance by the women’s team in the NAIA DII National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.

Miranda Wilson finished the season averaging 13.4 ppg and was ranked by the NCCAA in the top 10 in the nation in 3 point percentage (third at 48.1%), assists (fourth at 5.2apg), and assist/turnover ratio (seventh at 2.7). Additionally, she was thirteenth in steals per game (2.5). She was also named First Team All-Mideast Region and Second Team All-River States Conference. Wilson also added four double-doubles and helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 24-6 record and the first ever school appearance by the women’s team in the NAIA DII National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.

Austin Crisp

Blake Smith finished the season averaging 17.8 ppg and was ranked by the NCCAA in the top 20 in the nation in 3 point percentage (seventeenth at 42.1%), and free throw percentage (nineteenth at 82.7). Additionally, he was also named NCCAA Second Team All-American, First Team All-Mideast Region (leading vote-getter), and Second Team All-River States Conference.  Smith helped lead his club to a 16-13 record and a runner-up spot in the Mideast Region Tournament.

Austin Crisp finished the season averaging 12.5 ppg and was ranked by the NCCAA in the top 20 in the nation in assists per game (fifteenth at 4.3) and assist/turnover ratio (eleventh at 1.9). He helped lead his club to a 16-13 record and a runner-up spot in the Mideast Region Tournament.
