Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles softball team played host to Miami-Hamilton in a two-game series over the weekend. Below are recaps of each contest.

Game 1
ALC-11 | MH-10

The Lady Eagles came back from a 10-3 deficit to win a thriller.

The hosts scored three runs in their first at-bat to take a quick 3-0 lead. MH bounced back with five runs of their own an inning later, then appeared to be home free by adding five more in the third to roar to a 10-3 advantage.

ALC refused to quit and dug in their heels. They plated one in the third and added two more in the fourth to trail 10-6.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the sixth when the Lady Eagles rallied with five big runs to take the lead. Lady Eagles pitcher Kaitlyn Wyatt, who came on in relief of Morgan Albury in the fifth inning, shut down Miami the remainder of the game and earned the pitching victory.

The Lady Eagles totaled 14 hits on the day as McKenzie Brewer was a perfect 4-4. Lydia McIntosh, Mercedes Gilliam, Alexis Napier, and Geneva Miller each had critical doubles to fuel the comeback.

Game 2
ALC-8 | MH-9 (8 innings)

Miami jumped ahead early but the hosts answered on the strength of a massive blast to left field, courtesy of Samantha Sturgill. ALC then fell behind for a second straight game before rallying to retake the lead.

Unfortunately, this game would not provide a happy ending as Hamilton was the squad to ultimately comeback in this game. The guests erased an 8-7 deficit to send the contest into extra innings. They then completed the comeback by earning one run in extra innings and making it hold up until the final out.

The Lady Eagles won the hitting battle 14-13. The big blows were the Sturgill homer and a double from Emlee Adams. Wyatt suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 9 runs.
