MADISONVILLE, Tn. — The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Madisonville, Tennessee to face the home-standing Hiwassee Tigers on Tuesday. Following are recaps of each game.

GAME 1
Alice Lloyd 0 | Hiwassee-9

The hosts scored five runs in the second and added four in the fourth to put the contest away.

Alice Lloyd put runners on base each inning and had two runners on second and third base in both the 4th and 5th innings, but were unable to knock in the critical runs they needed.

Tiger pitcher Claudia Hutchins threw a complete five innings to record the win while giving up six hits and striking out three without any walks.  Kaitlyn Wyatt took the loss as she allowed ten hits. Only 4 of the runs were earned

HC outhit ALC 10-6 as Samantha Sturgill went 2-3 with a double and Wyatt was 2-2.

GAME 2
Alice Lloyd 8 | HC-1

Alice Lloyd brought out the big bats early as they struck first with 3 runs in the first on four hits. Mercedez Gilliam provided the big blow as she clobbered a double. The visitors followed that up with five more in the second, on the strength of 6 hits. Gilliam rapped her second double of the game to provide the spark. The visitors scored their lone run of the night on a single and a walk in the fifth inning.

On the mound, ALC hurler Morgan Albury was on fire. Albury controlled the game as she tossed a 4 hitter with 7 big strikeouts. She only walked 3 in her best performance of the season. Whitney Campbell took the loss as she allowed 4 hits and 3 runs. Two other Tigers pitchers gave up a combined 5 runs.

ALC won the hitting war, 14-4.  Gilliam and Sturgill each went 3-4 at the plate while Alexis Napier, McKenzie Brewer, and Jada Estep each went 2-4. Gilliam led the way with 4 RBI’s and Emlee Adams added 2 more.
