Neither snow nor rain stopped the ALC Impact Club from spending their afternoon volunteering at Bethel Mennonite Camp this past Saturday, March 24. Under the direction of faculty sponsor, Dr. Janelle Pryor, and club president, Jessica Reed, the group of students traveled to local non-profit ministry Bethel Mennonite Camp for a day of service. The students spent their day cleaning and organizing the camp’s “snack shop,” loading, transporting, and stacking firewood, and deep cleaning the camp’s chapel and recreation hall.

Bethel Mennonite Camp is a non-profit ministry located in Clayhole, Kentucky. They hold 8 weeks of camp each summer, divided by age for kids as young as first grade to high school seniors. All summer and retreat staff at the camp are volunteers, and the only year-round staff on the property are Roger and Ruthie Voth, the camp directors. Volunteer groups like the Impact Club are essential to keeping the camp ready for the kids that come each summer.

John Driskill, Austin Osborne, and Thomas Case (Vice President) helped camp director Roger Voth load and stack freshly cut firewood to be used this summer for cabin campfires.

Jessica Reed (President), Kaela Shaw, Lexie Coleman, Dr. Janelle Pryor (Faculty Sponsor) and Grace Driskill (Secretary) spent the morning cleaning and organizing the camp Snack Shop where the campers get refreshments.

The whole group came together to sweep, mop, organize, and sanitize the camp’s chapel, where the campers have their services each day.

Ruthie Voth prepared a delicious meal for the workers, giving everyone a chance to rest and get in from the cold.
