Alice Lloyd College is pleased to announce the addition of Wendy Saylor as a full-time faculty member. Mrs. Saylor will serve ALC as a Music Instructor and assume the responsibilities of the Voices of Appalachia Choir Director beginning in the fall of 2018. Originally from Tampa, Florida her passion for music ultimately led her to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education K – 12 from Cumberland College and her Master’s in Secondary Education from Morehead University. Mrs. Saylor went on to teach music in the public school system for thirty-three years. In addition to teaching in the public schools, she has also directed the Hazard Community Civic Choir for ten years and she currently serves as the choir director at the Hindman First Baptist Church, a role she has filled for twenty years.

Mrs. Saylor has taught music classes part-time at The June Buchannan School and Alice Lloyd College for the last seven years. Beyond the Voices of Appalachia choir, her classes for the fall semester will include Music Elementary and Music Appreciation. Mrs. Saylor sees her new classes as an exciting challenge and says, “I feel like it is a real honor to be invited to this position.” Her husband Bob Saylor will also be teaching Introduction to Music Theory. The College is excited to see how Mrs. Saylor will use her skills to contribute to the ALC community.
