Knoxville, TN: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee on Thursday, February 8th, to face NCCAA opponent Johnson University. The visitors were in command from the start, as they rolled to a convincing 87-59 victory over the Lady Royals.

In the first period, Alice Lloyd quickly got off on the right foot on both ends. They would lead 20-9 at the horn. In the second quarter, the solid play continued as Alice Lloyd maintained their pace. When the buzzer sounded for intermission, ALC held a 44-23 cushion and had limited the hosts to just 25% FG shooting.

The third period saw the visitors come out of the locker room determined to maintain their hard-earned advantage. Everyone would share the wealth as the Lady Eagles would post their highest scoring quarter (28 points). At the end of the period, the lead stood 72-41.

In the last quarter, the hosts battled hard but were simply in too big of a hole to mount any sort of a comeback. Once again, every player was involved for the ladies from Caney Creek in the total team effort.

For the victors (19-4), five players hit double figures. They were paced by freshman guard Haley Hall with 17 points and 5 steals. Senior guard Miranda Wilson registered 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Freshman forward Makayla Akers, along with freshman center Alexandria Clifton, added 12 and 10 points apiece. Akers and junior center Emilie Harrell led the squad with 3 blocks each while senior guard Kayla Wilson hauled down 11 rebounds.

The victors shot 40% (34-85) from the floor and 31.4% (11-35) from deep while sinking 80% (8-10 from the charity line. They added 47 rebounds, 18 assists, and 13 steals.

JU (4-18) was led on the night by guard Lori St. John with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Her squad shot 32.3% (20-62) from the field and 33.3% (4-12) from deep. They finished at 82.6% (19-23) from the charity stripe while adding 42 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals.

ALC has three regular-season contests remaining, and all are important River States Conference matches. On Saturday, February 10th, they host Brescia University. Tipoff is set for 1:00 pm.On Tuesday, February 13th, they travel to Cincinnati to battle Cincinnati Christian University at 5:30 pm. They close out the regular portion of the season on Saturday, February 17th in the last regular-season contest to take place at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center against Indiana University-Kokomo at 1 pm. This game will be senior night.

With their first place position in the RSC Western Division, the Lady Eagles will also host the quarterfinal contest of the conference tournament on Wednesday, February 21st against an opponent to be determined.
