Pippa Passes, KY:  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles took a ten point lead at intermission, but doomed by a cold-shooting second half, would succumb to the visiting Point Park University Lady Pioneers 80-73 on Saturday, January 27.

In the opening quarter, ALC would score the games first eight points to jump ahead before the visitors from Pittsburg would answer. ALC would lead by twelve (20-8) before the Lady Pioneers closed on an 8-0 run of their own to trail 20-16 at periods end.

In the second stanza, the game became the Alexandria Clifton show as the Eagles freshman center went on a scoring rampage. At one point she scored 11 consecutive points to help the home club roar to a 37-20 advantage at the 4:50 mark. However, the veteran PPU club did not panic and closed the period on a 14-7 run to set the score 44-34 at intermission.

As the third period began, Alice Lloyd would fight to maintain their lead as the visitors began to work their way back into the contest. Foul trouble for both ALC inside players Clifton and Emilie Harrell, combined with the play of the Pioneers fine center Samantha Weir, would enable PPU to only trail 61-60 at the buzzer.

In the last quarter, Alice Lloyd freshman guard Haley Hall hit a couple of long-range jumpers to help her club maintain a slight lead. However, as a whole, the home squad would turn ice cold, sinking only 4-16 from the floor, and the guests were quick to take advantage. Once Point Park finally grabbed the lead, they would never relinquish it.

For West Division leader Alice Lloyd (15-4; 9-3 RSC), Hall led all scorers with 25 while Clifton had 19 points and 7 rebounds. The two ladies combined to shoot 17-28 from the floor. However, they were the only two players to reach double digits as the remainder of the squad only shot a frigid 12-50 (24%). Senior guard Miranda Wilson did add 8 points and 10 rebounds while Jayla Spurlock led in both assists and steals with 5 and 3 respectively and added 2 blocks.

Alice Lloyd finished shooting 37.2% (29-78) from the field but just 31% in the second half. Additionally, they shot just 22.5% (9-40) from long range. They connected on 66.7% (6-9) from the foul line. They also added 53 rebounds, 13 assists, and 5 steals.

For East Division second place club PPU (13-8; 8-3 RSC), Weir led the way with 24 points. Her club won despite shooting 32.5% (26-80) from the floor and 34.5% (10-29) from behind the arc. They won the contest by sinking 72% (18-25) from the foul line. They also added 51 rebound, 13 assists, and 9 steals and forced the home club into 19 turnovers while committing 13 themselves.
