Richmond, Ind. – The Alice Lloyd College Eagles had the challenging task of traveling to Richmond, Indiana, to battle the NAIA #3 Indiana University-East Red Wolves on Saturday, Jan 6. Despite fighting until the very end, the Eagles would drop an 80-66 decision.

From the tipoff, the hosts were eager to prove why they held their lofty ranking, and they went about demonstrating that to perfection. East would explode to a commanding 32-11 lead with 8:03 remaining as the typically potent Eagle offense was stagnant. Just when it appeared a massive blowout was in the making, the boys from Caney Creek responded. Alice  Lloyd would buckle down on defense and go on a  20-7 run to slice the deficit to just eight (39-31) before a late Red Wolf hoop set the score at, a much-more-manageable, 41-31 at intermission.

In the second half, Alice Lloyd refused to go away, but they could never get the margin below double-figures as East was able to maintain control until the final buzzer sounded.

For ALC (8-6; 2-4 RSC), only one player managed double-figures. Freshman guard Timmy Dalton finished with 13 points, while senior and junior guards Austin Crisp and Ryan House each added 9 points. Dalton also led in rebounds with 7 while freshman guard Noah Young handed out 2 assists. House and sophomore forward Chance Cornett each had 2 steals.

Alice Lloyd shot a frigid 27.3% (18-66) from the floor and finished 33.3% (7-21) from behind the arc, and 71.9% (23-32) from the foul line. They also added 42 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals.

IUE, (16-2; 5-0 RSC) was led in scoring by guard Lucas Hoffman with 15 points. His club finished shooting 36.7% (22-60) from the floor and 31.8% (7-22) from behind the arc. They shot 78.4% (29-37) from the foul line, and also added 45 rebounds, 13 assists, and 7 steals.

ALC next returns to action on Tuesday, January 9th for a big conference showdown at home with Midway University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
