PIPPA PASSES, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles roared out to a 22 point lead in the opening half and rode that momentum to down the visiting Point Park University Pioneers 104-86 on Saturday, January 27th.

In the opening stanza, the home team came ready to play against the athletic squad from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Four different Eagles each had 9 points as they raced to a 42-20 lead with 5:59 remaining. A late charge from the visitors would shrink the deficit to nine (48-39) at intermission.

In the second half, PPU would fight to stay within striking distance and they would get within 62-55 with 13:57 remaining. Fortunately for the home team, sophomore guard Blake Smith would drain back-to-back trifectas and Eagle senior center Jake Allen would explode for 17-second half-points as the Pioneers had no answer for him. The hosts would take off from there and quickly put the contest out of reach.

For ALC (12-9; 5-7 RSC), they were led by Allen with game highs of 24 points (9-13 FG) and 9 rebounds. Smith added 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Junior forward Dondre Warren came off the bench to tally 15 points, snare 9 rebounds and block 2 shots. He was followed by senior guard Austin Crisp with 14 points and 3 assists and sophomore forward Chance Cornett with 11 points and 8 boards of his own. Freshman guard Noah Young led the club with 5 assists. Leading scorer Timmy Dalton returned from an injury he suffered on Tuesday night to see limited action.

The victors connected on 53.2% (41-77) from the field and 33.3% (10-30) from long range. They hit 66.7% (12-18) from the foul line and added 54 rebounds, 15 assists, and 4 steals.

The Pioneers (4-16; 1-10) were led by guard Rushan Roberts with 24 points. His club connected on 39.4% (28-71) from the field including 50% (12-24) from long range. They hit 70.4% (19-27) from the foul line and added 30 rebounds, 12 assists, and 12 steals.

Alice Lloyd returns to conference action this week for two critical matchups. On Tuesday, January 30th, they travel to Midway University for a 7:30 pm tipoff. They return home on Thursday, February 1st when they face Asbury University at 7:30 pm
