PIPPA PASSES, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team hosted the Boyce College Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday. After the last ball had been spiked, the Eagles had earned a convincing three game sweep.

In the opening set, the hosts jumped ahead quickly, but Boyce battled back to tie things at 20. ALC then refocused and closed out on a 5-2 spurt to take the game 25-22.

In Game 2, the hosts once more sprinted ahead. This time, their play remained steady throughout as they maintained a commanding cushion to seal the deal, 25-9.

Knowing one more loss would mean defeat, the Lady Bulldogs came out of the huddle for set 3 determined to make a comeback. BC used strong overall play to bolt out to a 15-10 lead and force a Lady Eagle timeout. Fortunately for the home fans, the club from Caney Creek came out of the short break prepared to reverse things. ALC would proceed to work their way back into contention before finally regaining the lead at 20-19. They would then seal the match with a 25-21 clinching victory.

On the night, sophomore Samantha Sturgill and freshman Kelsie Jackson led the club in kills with 10 and 9 apiece while sophomore Emily Johnson contributed 8 of her own. Sophomore Haley Smith paved the way with 13 digs while fellow sophomore Lindsey Perkins and freshman Lakyn Wallace each added 8. Wallace was dominate in the assists category as she handed out 24 on the night.

In the newest statistics just released by the NCCAA, Jackson is ranked fifth in NCCAA Division II in kills per outing with 3.17 per game, while Wallace is fifth in NCCAA Division II assists with 7.46 per contest.

ALC (6-8) returns to action this Saturday as travel to Louisville, Kentucky. They will face Grace College in the first game of the day followed by a rematch with Boyce. The match gets underway at 2pm. The Lady Eagles then return home on Thursday, October 26th against the Midway Eagles at 7pm.
