Knoxville, TN: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Tennessee over the weekend to face three opponents. On Friday, they would play a doubleheader against NCCAA II opponent Johnson University Florida (Suns), and then face fifth ranked Johnson University Tennessee (Royals). On Saturday, they journeyed to Madisonville, Tennessee to tackle NCCAA I, Hiwassee College (Tigers).

The Lady Eagles first opponent was Johnson, Florida. ALC got off to a rough start as they dropped the first two games. Fortunately, they started reversing things and took the next two matches in commanding fashion to force a decisive fifth game. In the clincher, the Lady Eagles jumped ahead and won 15-10 to take the match 3-2.

The second contest was against the hosts and the girls from Pippa Passes got off to a much better start against their highly ranked opponent before falling 25-19. In the second game, the match was close the entire way before the hosts prevailed 25-22. Unfortunately, fatigue set in the third game as ALC dropped a 25-11 decision.

The Hiwassee Tigers were a tough foe and had defeated Alice Lloyd earlier in the season in five grueling matches. However, this time, ALC looked impressive as they took Game 1, 25-15. They would follow that up with a solid 25-19 victory in Game 2. Hiwassee fought hard on their senior day and took a nail-biter (25-23). The focused Lady Eagles then dominated the fourth match with a commanding 25-11 victory, and clinched the match, 3-1.

ALC (9-11) returns to action on Monday, October 30 when they host the University of Pikeville in the final regular season contest of the season. Game time is set for 7:00 pm. The NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament then begins Thursday in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Seeding will be announced on Tuesday.
