Louisville, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Louisville, Ky.over the weekend to play a doubleheader against NCCAA II opponents Boyce College (Bulldogs) and Grace Bible College (Tigers).

The Lady Eagles first opponent was Grace Bible College. ALC got off to a rough start and never recovered in dropping three straight games. In game 1, the Tigers pulled ahead early and were able to keep separation the entire way, winning 25-17. Grace then picked up the tempo in the next two games and was able to win in solid fashion, 25-11 and 25-9, and sweep the match.

 Emily Johnson led the club in kills with 8 while Kelsie Jackson (5) and Lindsey Perkins (4) contributed to the tally as well. Lakyn Wallace paved the way in assists with 17 while Haley Smith (10), Wallace (9), and Perkins (5) led the team in digs.

The second contest was against the hosts from Boyce and once again, the girls from Pippa Passes got off on the wrong foot before falling 25-19. Fortunately, the Eagles regrouped to take the next two contests in exciting fashion, 25-22 and 25-23. The Bulldogs knew they needed the next game to force a tie-breaker set on their home turf and they came out of the huddle ready to battle. The match was furiously played by both squads as neither would give an inch, but ALC would get the last two points and win 26-24, and take the match by a score of 3-1.

Emily Johnson (14), Kelsie Jackson (9), and Samantha Sturgill (6) led the victorious Eagles in kills while Lindsey Perkins registered 5 blocks to lead the way. Lakyn Wallace handed out 30 assists while Perkins and Wallace sparked the victors with 22 and 14 digs. Kennedy Hudson added 10.

ALC (7-9) returns to action on Thursday, October 26 when they host Midway University. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
