Wilmore, KY:  The Alice Lloyd College Eagles fell to Asbury University 6-5 on Tuesday on the final play of the game.

Asbury University captured the lead in the first inning, but the visitors slowly chipped away at the deficit.

Alice Lloyd evened things up at five in the top of the sixth inning when Madison Haymaker drove in two runs with a clutch double.

The game was tied at five with AU batting in the bottom of the seventh. They quickly loaded the bases, but the visiting Eagles then forced two outs. Unfortunately, there was an error on the next play which permitted the game-winner to score.

Ally Moore earned the win for Asbury University. She tossed seven innings, allowing five runs, 14 hits, striking out five, and walking one.

Aly Webb took the loss for ALC. She threw six and a third innings, allowing six runs, 11 hits, and striking out one.

Alice Lloyd collected 14 hits as a team and was led by Allison Shepherd, Haymaker, Rachel Cooper, Webb, and Alexis Napier, each with two hits.

Asbury University had 11 hits in the game.

In the nightcap, Alice Lloyd fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Asbury.

The hosts captured the lead in the first inning on the strength of a two-run triple, and they iced the contest with three runs in the fifth inning.

Emmy Gillis earned the win for AU. She went seven innings, surrendering one run, five hits, and striking out five.

Allison Shepherd took the loss for ALC. She tossed six innings, surrendering eight runs, 12 hits, and striking out four.

Laura Green went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Alice Lloyd College Eagles in hits.
