Game 1

The Alice Lloyd College Eagles dropped the series opener to the University of Pikeville Lady Bears 14-0.

The Eagles received a single by Samantha Sturgill in the first inning, but were unable to drive her home.

UPike scored a few runs early, but used six runs in the fifth inning to put the contest out of reach.

Beth Reed earned the win for the Bears while Allison Shepard took the loss. She pitched four innings, surrendering eight runs, eight hits, and striking out two.

Sturgill led Alice Lloyd College Eagles with two hits in two at bats and ALC didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The University of Pikeville had 13 hits in the game.

 Game 2

The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles fought back after falling down by six runs, but the comeback fell just short, in a 6-4 defeat to the University of Pikeville in game two.

Pikeville took an early lead in the first inning and added three more in the third on a homerun.

Trailing 6-0, the Lady Eagles began to whittle into the lead. They scored four runs in the seventh inning fueled by a grounder from Allison Shepard, an error, and two stolen bases. Unfortunately, the hosts were unable to knock the tying run across the plate.

Lindsay Floyd earned the win for the Lady Bears. She pitched seven innings, allowing four runs, nine hits, striking out four, and walking zero.  Aly Webb took the loss for the home club. She threw seven innings, allowing six runs, 12 hits, and striking out two.

ALC had nine hits in the game, led by Chloe Johnson and Rachel Cooper who each collected multiple hits. Shepard led Alice Lloyd with one run batted in and went 1-for-3 on the day. University of Pikeville collected 12 hits.
