PIPPA PASSES, KY – The Alice Lloyd College Eagles hosted the Berea College Mountaineers in a twin bill on Saturday afternoon. The opening game was a heartbreaker for Eagles, as they lost the lead late in a 7-6 defeat.

The hosts took an early lead in the first inning. With one out, Alex White drove in one run with a double. The Eagles would add to that with a stream of hits and looked to be home free as they took a commanding 6-0 lead into the sixth.

Unfortunately, Berea College scored five runs in the sixth inning to slice the deficit to one. They would complete the comeback in the final inning when Andrew Akins drove in two runs off White with a single. The Eagles were unable to get the tying run in the bottom half of the inning.

White was excellent with the bat as he collected four hits in defeat. He doubled in the first, singled in the second, tripled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Alan Silva and Ronnie Saylor each collected multiple hits for Eagles. ALC had 12 hits in the game

Griffen Norris started the game for Berea College. He tossed two innings, surrendering four runs, and seven hits. Chase Wozniak started the game for Eagles. He pitched five and a third innings, surrendering four runs, and one hit.

In game two, the hosts fell to BC 9-3.

For the second consecutive contest, Alice Lloyd struck first. With one out in the first inning, Alan Silva drove in one run when he smashed a home run.

Berea College evened things up at one in the top of the second inning, and took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning on a homer. They added three insurance runs in the sixth.

ALC had seven hits in the game. Silva and Alex White each collected two hits. Berea College collected eight hits

Chad Brown earned the win for the Mountaineers. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out three. Jake Weaver took the loss for Eagles. He tossed three innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out one.
