NEW ALBANY, IN – The Alice Lloyd College Eagles hung tough for twenty-five minutes before faltering in the second half and succumbing at the hands of the powerful Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers 78-64. The River States Conference game was played on Tuesday, February 7.

In the opening half, the visitors jumped out quickly behind the play of junior forward Jake Allen. Allen was unstoppable early as his 10 points in the first twelve minutes would boost the Eagles to an 18-12 lead.

IUS would battle back, however, as the contest remained tight with five ties and five lead changes. Eventually, the hosts would take a 31-30 lead into intermission following an offensive rebound and buzzer beater from forward Joe Jackson

In the second half, ALC sophomore guard Ryan House sank a jumper to keep his squad within three (43-40) but sparked by the play of guards Jamie Johnson and Demetrius Stanton, the Grenadiers would go on a 15-0 blitz over the next five minutes. With 10:37 remaining, IU Southeast held a commanding 58-40 advantage. From that point, Alice Lloyd would never get closer than 12 points the rest of the night.

For ALC (11-16; 7-8 RSC),  Allen, and junior guard Austin Crisp finished in double figures with 15 and 10 points respectively. House and sophomore forward Chance Cornett each had 8 rebounds while sophomore forward Sean Ross dished out 3 assists.

Alice Lloyd shot a cool 33.3% (25-75) from the field and 13.6 % (3-22) from long range. From the charity line, they drained 78.6% (11-14). Additionally, they registered 49 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists.

First place IUS (19-5;1 3-2 RSC) was led by Johnson’s 18 points. His club connected on 46.6% (27-58) from the field and 32% (8-25) from long range. They attempted 28 free throws, sinking 16 (57.1%) and also had 41 rebounds,4 steals, and 13 assists.
