The Alice Lloyd College Men’s Golf Team played their first tournament of the spring 2017 season, the 2017 Georgetown (KY) Invitational at The Slammer and Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine, Florida. This event included NAIA #2 Ranked Dalton State, who won the event by 4 shots over St. Andrew’s University with rounds of 296/295 for a two-round total of 591. Winner of the 2016 ALC Fall Invitational, Indiana Tech, finished 3rd, another stroke back of Dalton State.

Connor Brown of Point University was the medalist, shooting a pair of 1 under 71’s for a 142 total to win by 1 stroke over Kalb Kroft of Indiana Tech who shot a sizzling 66 the first round, and a 77 the second round.

The Eagles were represented by 4 players, Jared Albright, Aaron Minor, Jordan Slone and Dustin Tackett. This was Dustin’s first college golf tournament. Aaron Minor lead the Eagles with a pair of 82’s for a 164 total to stand tied for 53rd of the 65 competitors. Jared Albright shot 88/81 to finish tied for 56th. Eagles finished 12th of 12, shooting 432/380 for 812. Both freshmen, Dustin Tackett and Jordan Slone improved considerably from the first to the second rounds, resulting in the 52 shot improvement for the second round.

The next golf outing is at the Skyhawk Invitational at Callaway Gardens Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia, on March 12-14, 2017.
