The June Buchanan Lady Crusaders earned two home victories last week. On January 24th, they hosted the Piarist Lady Knights. When the final buzzer sounded, JBS had picked up the 65-39 win.

In the opening stanza, the Lady Crusaders came out hot from the tipoff and drained four trifectas. On the strength of their torrid shooting, they would sprint to a 22-11 lead.

In the second period, the hosts would build on their advantage and freely utilize their bench. The play remained crisp and Buchanan would push the advantage to 23 (39-16) by intermission.

The Lady Crusaders would come out of the dressing room determined to continue their solid play during the next eight-minute segment, They accomplished this feat and would lead 56- 27 at the end of period three.

In the final period, the hosts closed things out and settled for the solid twenty-six point victory.

For the victors, junior guard Lexie Likens tossed in 23 points to lead the way. She was joined in double-figures by Kaitlyn Everidge with 15 points. Anika Thacker and Haley Likens contributed 11 and 10 points each. Dora Stanley, Hannah N. Hall and Destiny Huff each chipped in with 2.

Riverside’s Lauren Wright led her club with 28 points.

On January 26th, JBS returned home to face the Riverside Rams. When the dust had settled, Buchanan had emerged victorious 55-40.

The hosts started the period moving the ball well and received balanced scoring. After one quarter, they led 17-8.

In the second stanza, Lady Crusader guard Lexie Likens pumped in 10 points and propelled her squad to a 29-14 lead at intermission.

The home club put the game away in the third period and extended their lead to over twenty. They would lead 42-21 after 24 minutes of action.

In the last period, Coach Brandon Hayes would get all of his girls playing time and was able to see his Lady Crusaders earn their second consecutive victory.

For JBS, Lexie Likens would lead the way once more despite missing action due to leg cramps. She still swished in 20 points. Anika Thacker shot well also and drained 16 points. Kaitlyn Everidge would add 7 while Ruby Yeary and Haley Likens would each register 4. Dora Stanley and Destiny Huff rounded out the scoring with 2 apiece.

The Rams were paced by Rose Haddix with 20 points.
