Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles were undone by a cold shooting second half and dropped a 92-49 decision to the 10th ranked Indiana University East Lady Red Wolves Lady Cougars over the weekend.

Forced to play without the services of leading scorer Amber Shepherd due to a family emergency, the Lady Eagles still got off to a good start. Sparked by six early points, courtesy of two India Hairston-James bombs, the hosts raced out to a 10-4 lead in the opening two minutes of action.

Unfortunately, the advantage was short-lived. The Red Wolves proceeded to close the quarter on a 23-7 run and led 27-17 after one quarter of play.

In the second stanza, the girls from Caney Creek were only outscored 14-12 and went into intermission still within striking distance at 41-29.

In the third quarter, the visitors demonstrated why they had their lofty ranking as they doubled up the period score (26-13) to lead 67-42. They closed the game with a dominating fourth quarter to ice the victory.

For ALC (6-5; 2-4 RSC), junior guard Kayla Wilson and sophomore guard Whitney Evans each scored 11 points while junior forward Sara Robinson added 10. Wilson led in assists with 2 while junior guard Bailey O’Brian hauled in 7 rebounds. Junior guard Miranda Wilson picked off 4 steals.

Alice Lloyd was their own worst enemy as they shot a frigid 23.5% (16-69) from the field and 22.7% (5-22) from long range. They were also cold from the charity line, draining 42.9% (12-28). Additionally, they registered 35 rebounds, 7steals, 6 assists, and 2 blocks.

East (14-4; 5-0 RSC) was led by guard Tia King with 19 points. Her club connected on 43.5% (30-69) from the field and 22.7 % (5-22) from long range. They connected on 75% (27-36) from the charity line and also had 55 big rebounds, 9 steals, 11 assists, and 3 blocks.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they face the Kentucky Christian Lady Knights at 6:00 pm.
