KOKOMO, IN: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles were defeated by the home-standing Indiana University Kokomo Cougars over the weekend 94-66. The River States Conference game was played on Saturday.

In the opening half, sparked by six early points from freshman guard Blake Smith, the Eagles trailed by just one (12-11) with 15:44 remaining.

Over the next eight minutes, however, the home club went on a massive 22-6 run to vault ahead 34-17. IUK would go into intermission with a solid 46-28 advantage.

In the second half, the Eagles would continue to battle, and they would get as close as 52-41 after junior forward Jake Allen swished two charity tosses. The tide seemed to be turning in the visitor’s favor.

Unfortunately, Kokomo would go on another run. When the dust settled at the 10:08 mark, the hosts led 69-46 and were not seriously challenged again.

For ALC (3-6; 1-1 RSC), sophomore guard Ryan House led a trio of double-figure scorers with 13 points. The athletic Smith added 11 points and team-highs of 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Junior guard Austin Crisp contributed 11 points while adding 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Alice Lloyd shot a frigid 34.8% (23-66) from the field and 21.1 % (4-19) from long range. From the charity line, they drained 72.7% (16-22). Additionally, they registered 42 rebounds, 5 steals, 7 assists, and 5 blocks.

Kokomo (4-5; 2-0 RSC) was led by Trent Elliott with 17 points. His club connected on 43.3% (29-67) from the field and 41.9% (13-31) from long range. They attempted 30 free throws, sinking 23 (76.7%) and also had 47 rebounds, 8 steals, and 8 assists.

The Eagles return to action this weekend when they return home to face the Brescia Bearcats Saturday, December 10th in conference play. Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm.
