The ALC Eagles played the in the second annual Work College Challenge against the Berea College Mountaineers on Saturday, October 29th at Battlefield Golf Course in Richmond, KY. The quality of the golf was outstanding with most holes won with birdies, pars or our favorite, eagles. In the end, Berea won the Ryder Cup-style matches 6-5. The first match, Berea #1 Kevin Kim vs ALC #2 Zach Hancock and #3 Aaron Minor was won by Kim 1 up with a birdie on the last hole and was the difference in the matches. ALC #4 Justin Smith played very well, halving his match with Berea #4 Derrick Lisanby by winning the last two holes and driving the 18th green to halve his two ball match. Jared Albright, Zach Hancock and Aaron Minor each took 1.5 points; Justin Smith took 1 point and Jordan Slone took 1/2 a point in the matches. With the victory, the Mountaineers earned the Shovel Trophy. An actual shovel is incorporated as the trophy to symbolize the work-ethic of these participants.
