MOREHEAD, KY – The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Morehead to face NCAA opponent Morehead State University on Tuesday in an exhibition match. The host Eagles used their size and quickness from the start to defeat ALC 92-42.

MSU opened the game with stifling defense and went on a 23-2 run. A late triple from ALC junior Kayla Wilson made the score 23-5 after one quarter of action.

Sparked by 11 second quarter points from senior forward Amber Shepherd, the visitors sliced the deficit to sixteen points late in the stanza and were only outscored 23-21 during the ten minutes. Morehead hit a couple of late baskets and took a 46-26 lead at intermission.

The hosts refused to let Alice Lloyd get any closer in the second half and they increased their lead to 28 by the end of the period.

The last quarter was all MSU as they steadily pulled away until the final score. The girls from Caney Creek battled hard, but they were unable to overcome their bigger foe.

For ALC, Shepherd was the only player to reach double figures as she tossed in 15 points. Senior guard Bailey O’Bryan and K. Wilson each chipped in with 7 points. K. Wilson also led in rebounding with 7 while Shepherd registered 5 blocks. O’Bryan, Miranda Wilson, and India Hairston-James each dished off 3 assists.

Alice Lloyd connected on a chilly 23.8% (15-63) from the field and 10% (3-30) from long range. They also attempted 12 free throws, hitting 9 (75%). They also had 26 rebounds, 11 steals, 11 assists, and 10 blocks.

The host MSU Eagles placed six players in double-figures, led by Miranda Crockett with 16 points. They connected on a chilly 43.2% (38-88) from the field and 14.3% (1-7) from long range. They also attempted 19 free throws, hitting 5 (78.9%). They also had 69 big rebounds, 15 steals, 25 assists, and 10 blocks.

The Lady Eagles return to action with two important home contests this weekend. They will face Johnson University Friday at 7:00 pm. They follow this with a matchup Saturday with Warren Wilson College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm.
