The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Milligan last night to face the Milligan College Buffaloes in their first road game of the season. When the dust had settled, the hosts earned the 75-60 win.

Milligan jumped ahead quickly from the onset and took a commanding 24-9 lead over the first 10 minutes of the game.

After withstanding the host’s early knockout punch, the Eagles settled down. Sparked by guard Austin Crisp, the visitors began to eat away at the Buffalo lead. ALC would get to within three and would only trail 37-31 at the half.

In the final stanza, MC would start just like they did at the beginning of the game.  The Eagles would continue to battle, and only trailed 45-44 with 13:00 remaining. Unfortunately, Milligan had one more spurt remaining and once the deficit reached double digits, ALC did not seriously threaten again.

For Alice Lloyd (1-1), Crisp had a fine outing as he tossed in a game-high 21 points on 9-15 field goals. He added 7 rebounds and 2 assists. He was joined in double-figures by fellow guard Ryan House who added 13 points and a game-high 3 steals. Freshman guard Blake Smith led in rebounds with 8 while sophomore forward Sean Ross dished off 3 assists.

For the victors (1-0), Will Buckner led the way with 18 points and a game high 13 rebounds.

Milligan shot a solid 50% in the second half and 45% for the game (31-69); this includes 25% (6-24) from behind the arc. They also hit 53% (7-13) from the charity stripe. Additionally they had 43 rebounds, 11 assists, and 9 steals.

The Eagles shot 35.4% for the game (23-65) which includes 13.6% (3-22) from behind the arc. They also hit 73% (11-15) from the charity stripe. Additionally they had 41 rebounds, 9 assists, and 6 steals.

The Eagles return to action next Tuesday in their first home game of the season against Crown College. The tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
