BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Alice Lloyd women’s and men’s cross country team traveled to Beckley, West Virginia on Saturday, November 5th to participate in the River States Conference Tournament.

A total of 83 men’s runners and 78 women’s runners from various colleges comprised the field for the challenging 5K race and 8K race. The temperature was a brisk 45 degrees.

The Lady Eagles were paced by freshman Kacey Trout (Whitesburg, KY) who ran a season’s best time of 22:39 to finish in 25th place. Sophomore Brittney Buttrey (Whitesburg, KY) was next as she completed the course with a time of 23:57.  Freshman Madisson Minks (Viper, KY) and sophomore Hayley Short (Hindman, KY) were the next Lady Eagles to complete the race, finishing in nearly identical times of 30:05.7 and 30:05.8. Sophomores Elly Fulks (Ironton, OH) and Cheyenne Boggs (Grayson, KY) finished their run with times of 30:59 and 31:41 respectively.

The Eagles were paced by freshmen Nick Galloway (Berea, KY) who completed the course with a season’s best time of 31:01. Fellow freshmen Ryan Morris (Lee, VA) and Noah Stevenson (Wise, VA) finished in a time of 31:25 and 32:47 respectively. Freshman Dustin Blair (Prestonsburg, KY) and junior John Driskill (Jackson, KY), crossed the line in 33:23 and 34:01 while sophomore Zach Templeton (Weber City, TN), stopped the timer in 35:44.

The next meet will be on Saturday, November 12th when the squads head to Jackson, Mississippi to participate in the NCCAA National Tournament.
