ALC Volleyball

Bump, set, spike! It’s that time of year again! The Alice Lloyd volleyball season is in full swing. The team has dedicated many hours to getting ready for their upcoming games. Both players and coaches are excited to show off all of their hard work in their upcoming matches. The team is lead by head coach Kari Huber and student assistant coach Sarrah Huber. 

When asked to describe her vision for the team this upcoming year coach Kari Huber replied, “This is a rebuilding year with the majority of our team graduating. There are high hopes for both the incoming and returning players. We have a very outgoing group of girls that work very hard so you can expect good things from our volleyball team this year.”

Since this is a rebuilding year for the team, there are many recruits who have put in countless hours of hard practice to be prepared for the upcoming season. Here are the newest freshmen Lady Eagles:

  • #2 Lindsay Perkins from Crab Orchard, KY.  Her hitting and blocking ability will be a huge asset to the team this year.
  • #10 Alex Hunter from Betsey Lane, KY. The team looks forward to her expertise as a setter. 
  • #12 Sydney Belcher from Logan, WV. She is a very strong front row player that will definitely help the team this year.
  • #13 Haley Smith from Hueysville, KY. She is an outstanding defensive player who will be used as a libero.
  • #14 Sam Sturgill from Big Stone Gap, VA. She will be a front row player who is expected to have outstanding statistics at the net.
  • #22 Alexis Napier from Manchester, KY. She is a solid all-around player who will definitely be a huge contributor to the team.
  • #23 Morgan Robinson from Hazard, KY. She is a steady all-around player who will definitely be a steady performer for the team.
  • #25 Kenzie Slone from Paintsville, KY. She is a versatile athlete who will bring a great deal to the team.
  • #26 Savanna Yaw from Louisa, KY. She is a solid all-around player who will bring size and steady play to the team.

There are three players who are returning to the team this year and will be counted on heavily for their leadership:

  • #3 Tiffani McClanahan, a sophomore from Phelps, Ky, is returning to play front row.
  • #24 Ariel Williams, a sophomore from Hazard, Ky, is returning as a designated server.
  • #9 Amber Reynolds, the leading senior from Olive Hill, Ky, is returning as a solid defensive player. 

The Alice Lloyd volleyball team strongly encourages everyone to come out to their games to show their support! They have put many hours of hard work and can’t wait to represent ALC this upcoming volleyball season!
