FLORENCE, Ky. — The 2015-16 All-KIAC Women’s Basketball Teams & Awards have been conducted with voting from the conference’s 13 head coaches. The 10-player All-KIAC First & Second Teams are led by KIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year Julie Whitfill, a senior guard from Brescia (Ky.) University.

Whitfill, a 5-7 native of Hardinburgh, Ky., earned player of the year honors as the top vote-getter.

KIAC Coach of the Year honors went to IU East head coach Tiffani Selhorst.

IU East sophomore guard Tia King came up second in the all-conference voting.

Asbury (Ky.) University senior guard Catie Fletcher led the Eagles in scoring at 16.9 ppg (4th KIAC) and was third in the voting.

University of Rio Grande (Ohio) senior forward Sarah Bonar ranked fourth in the all-conference votes. She is third in the KIAC with 17.7 ppg and second with a field-goal percentage of 49.4.

IU Southeast sophomore guard Annie Thomas rounded out the first five chosen and was also named the KIAC Newcomer of the Year.

The second half of the All-KIAC First Team had Asbury senior guard Kylee Gorby, the Eagles’ floor leader at 11.5 ppg and 3.1 apg. Another guard on the first team was Courtney Fisher of WVU Tech. She averaged 12.7 ppg and led the conference in field goal-percentage at 50.5 percent.

An inside presence filled out the rest of the first team with IU Southeast senior forward Mary Dye averaging a double-double of 15.2 ppg and 10.6 rpg; Point Park (Pa.) junior forward Carly Forse with 10.8 ppg and 6.6 rpg and IU East sophomore forward Keragen Niehoff with 11.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg.

The 10-player All-KIAC Second Team included Brescia’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick (11.5 ppg), IU Kokomo’s Deja Felder (13.2 ppg), Alice Lloyd’s Taylor Arthur (11.6 ppg, 10.6 ppg), Rio Grande’s Brooke Marcum (10.1 ppg), Ohio Christian’s Erinn Bailey (12.2 ppg), Carlow’s Lynzi Mueller (10.1 ppg), WVU Tech’s Savannah Shamblin (13.4 ppg), IU Southeast’s Jocelyn Mousty (10.8 ppg, 9.0 rpg), Alice Lloyd’s Amber Shepherd (14.0 ppg) and WVU Tech’s LaKisha Adkins (10.6 ppg).

The KIAC Comeback Player of the Year was voted as Midway (Ky.) University junior guard Jasmine Johnson. She missed much of this season due to surgery. She made her return in January and led the team with 10.5 ppg over 18 games.

Also chosen was the KIAC Women’s Basketball Champions of Character Team. One player from each school was named to the team as the one who best represented the five character values of the NAIA’s Champions of Character program — respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
