IMG_8408-8BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Bluefield College Rams women’s basketball team defeated the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles 56-33, Monday night at the Dome Gymnasium to capture the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East championship. With the win the Rams advance to the NCCAA National Tournament, March 16-19 in Winona Lake, Ind.

The Rams jumped ahead quickly and never trailed in the contest. A strong defense held the visitors to eight points in the first quarter and only seven in the second period. At intermission, the hosts led 24-15. Bluefield held ALC to 22 percent shooting in the first half.

Any hopes of a second-half comeback were dashed as the Eagles remained ice-cold in the third period, scoring only five points in the third 10-minute session. The fourth period saw the Rams close out with an15-13 advantage to gain the 56-33 win.

Sophomore Taylor Arthur had game-highs of 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead Alice Lloyd (12-20). Senior Megan Jones closed out her career with 5 points and 2 rebounds

Bluefield (20-11), which got 31 of its 56 points from their bench, was paced by Deneysha Goods with 10 points.
