PIPPA PASSES: KY- Alice Lloyd College pitcher Josh Antwine was impressive, allowing just 1 run, and helped the ALC Eagles defeat the University of Pikeville Bears 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.

The contest remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. Alice Lloyd received a clutch double from Alan Silva that scored Austin Turner, and gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage.

UPike got one run back in the top of the seventh on an RBI from outfielder Mike Peluffo.

In the last inning Eagle mentor Scott Cornett brought on Broderick Moore to close the door. Moore hit one batter, but settled down to end the inning with 0 hits, and register the save.

ALC was outhit 7-5 and had 8 strikeouts compared to UPike’s 5. The Bears did commit 2 costly errors while the Eagles played error-free.

Silva led the way at the plate with 2 hits.
