IMG_7451-13Montgomery, WV- The Alice Lloyd Eagles battled the home-standing West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in a big KIAC matchup Saturday in Montgomery, West Virginia. The hosts rode the marksmanship of high-scoring guard Ryan Atkins to prevail 75-55.

 In the first half, both clubs were cold early. ALC jumped ahead 5-0 with 14:34 on the clock and held the lead until the nine minute mark. Adkins would then connect on five consecutive shots enroot to giving the home team a 16 point half and a 27-22 lead at intermission. The Eagles only connected on 29% from the floor in the opening half.

In the second half, the Bears would open with an 18-8 run over the first six minutes to pull away to a 45-30 advantage. Alice Lloyd was never able to overcome their cold shooting and saw Tech maintain their lead until the final buzzer.

For ALC (12-10; 8-4 KIAC), freshman Shane Hall was the only Eagle to reach double figures as the lanky center tossed in 19 points on 7-11 shooting. Senior Tyler Rogers chipped in with 9 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore Austin Crisp delivered 5 assists.

For Tech (15-10; 7-5 KIAC), Adkins showed why he is the conference’s leading scorer as he poured in 33 points on 13-15 field goals and 7-11 bombs. He also hauled down a game high 16 rebounds. For good measure, he dished off 8 assists.
