The Lady Crusaders came out of the locker room ready to play. They jumped ahead on the strength of 4 long range bombs to lead the visitors 26-17 after one quarter of action. Proffitt had 12 points in the quarter while Creech tossed in 8.

In the second quarter, Creech scored all 15 of her clubs points, but the Crusaders matched them point-for-point. JBS took a 41-32 lead at intermission as Creech had 23. Proffitt and teammate Breana Harrington netted 21 and 7 points respectively to pace their club.

In the third quarter, Creech came out on fire as she tossed in 17 points to single-handedly spark her club to a 21-14 scoring advantage. The visitors trailed 55-53 entering the last quarter.

The final quarter was a battle to the finish as Jenkins, sparked by Creech, stormed back to take the lead.

JBS then received back-to-back trifectas from guard Lexie Likens to give themselves a cushion once more, only to see Cavalier guards Lexi Stambaugh and Emilee Rose hit shots of their own.

Trailing 76-73 with a few seconds remaining, JBS went to Proffitt, who coolly sank a three pointer of her own to knot the score and send the contest into overtime.

In the second overtime both clubs battled as Creech did her best to will the Cavaliers to victory. Her 7 points lifted her club to an 89-85 lead.

Then the game got even more exciting. With 5 seconds remaining, Buchanan missed a three and was forced to foul to stop the clock. On the same play, Jenkins was whistled for a technical foul. First, Cavalier guard Stambaugh went to the line and sank 1-2 to put her team up 90-85. Next, Lady Crusader Proffitt calmly swished both of her free throws to reduce the deficit to 90-87.

The possession arrow favored JBS who took the ball at half court. Guard Lexie Likens dribbled to the top of the key before hitting Proffitt on the left wing. Her contested 23 footer found nothing but net as the contest went into a second overtime.

In the second overtime, Jenkins missed their first field goal and Creech went over the back of Buchanan’s Megan Hall who had blocked her out. The foul was her fifth which sent her to the bench.

The Cavaliers continued to play hard without their leader, but JBS moved the ball well and hit free throws when the visitors were forced to foul.

For Buchanan, Proffitt led the way with 53. She connected on 15-26 from the field (4-9 from deep), and 19-22 free throws. Harrington, who was forced to leave the contest for a stretch in the last quarter due to severe leg cramps, tossed in 15 and added hauled down 14 rebounds. Lexie Likens sank 4-6 from deep and contributed 14. Kaitlyn Everidge came off the bench to contribute 8 important points. Hall added 7 while McKayla Likens and Haley Likens chipped in with 3 and 2 apiece.

Creech led all scorers with 63 points on 24-43 field goals (1-3 from long range) and 14-16 free throws. She added 17 rebounds. Stambaugh and Rose each added 11 while McKenzie Gibson netted 5.
