JBS GirlsThe June Buchanan Lady Crusaders led after one quarter, but were unable to maintain their advantage as they dropped a tough 72-58 decision to the home standing Breathitt County Lady Bobcats in the opening round of the All A Classic Tournament.

In the opening quarter, Coach Brandon Hayes club executed to perfection and controlled the game. Backed by solid shooting, they led 20-14 after one.

In the second quarter, the Bobcats showed why many consider them the region’s top team as they scored the first 10 points to open the quarter. JBS would experience foul trouble which allowed the Bobcats to outscore Buchanan 22-9 for the second stanza, and take a 36-29 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the Lady Crusaders battled hard, but guard McKayla Likens exited the contest with a knee injury, and the Bobcats were able to take advantage and maintain their lead until the final horn.

For Buchanan (5-5), they were led by Lindsey Proffitt with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Megan Hall and Breana Harrington fought foul trouble all night, but contributed 13 and 11 points each. McKayla Likens and Lexi Likens added 7 and 6 points respectively.
