In the opening half, the visitors came out cold as Asbury jumped ahead 11-6 with 10:45 remaining. Both squads then battled evenly the rest of the way as there were 7 ties in the opening half. Fortunately, for the visitors, Stumbo drained a long bomb at the buzzer to give his squad a 27-25 advantage at intermission.

He then proceeded to score a total of 20 points in the second half.

To the delight of ALC Coach JR Hammond, each time AU would be poised to make a run, senior leaders Combs, Stumbo and Tyler Rogers would swish a big shot or drain their free throws to thwart the hosts comeback bid.

For the victors (10-8; 6-2 KIAC), Combs scored a career high 23 points. He connected on 5-6 from the field (all were three point attempts) and a perfect 8-8 from the charity line. Sophomore guard Austin Crisp stuffed the stat sheet as well as he contributed 9 points, while adding game highs of 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
