The Alice Lloyd Eagles played two home contests over the weekend. The matches were against the Welch College Flames on Friday followed by a KIAC Conference foe, the Indiana University-Kokomo Cougars on Saturday. The Eagles earned a split in the series.  Below are recaps of each contest.

ALC- 59: Welch-52

In the opening half, ALC had their hands full as the Flames battled them from the start. The hosts led 10-8 after one quarter and 27-21 by intermission behind 11 points from Amber Shepherd.

In the second half, Welch continued to battle as they fought to reduce the deficit. Fortunately for the Eagles, they refused to surrender their lead and held on for the hard fought victory.

For ALC (6-10), they were led in scoring by Shepherd with 19 points on 7-16 field goals. She added 3 rebounds. Tailor Morgan was solid as she sank 4-7 from the floor and chipped in with 10 points and added a game high 4 assists.  Taylor Arthur led in rebounds with 7.

ALC- 58:  IU Kokomo-84

A frigid start doomed the Lady Eagles while Kokomo opened up the game by sinking 7- 8 shots (including 4-4 from long range) to sprint ahead 18-3. The visitors led 28-10 after one and took a commanding 49-26 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Kokomo’s shooting remained boiling as they never let the deficit sink under 20 points. They coasted to the victory as six players scored double figures.

For ALC (6-11; 1-6 KIAC), Shepherd and Arthur were the only players in double figures with 14 and 13 points apiece. Arthur pulled down 12 rebounds to record a double-double. Sara Robinson led in assists with 4.

IUK (7-8; 2-2 KIAC) was led by the 22 points from Whitney Williamson.
