Taylor ArthurThe Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles ran into a red-hot Brescia Lady Bearcats squad and dropped a 104-66 contest on Saturday. The KIAC matchup took place in Owensboro. 

To say the Lady Bearcats were hot is like saying water is wet as they blistered the nets to the tune of 31 points in the first quarter and 23 more in the second. At the half, they had connected on 61% (22-36) including 7-13 (53.8%) accuracy from long distance. The Lady Eagles on the other hand, scored 9 points in the first and 8 in the second for 17 points. They sank just 8-30 from the floor and 0-8 from deep range. Conversely, they trailed 34-17 at intermission. 

In the second half, BU continued their fire with 50 points and 20-36 shooting. ALC looked like a completely different squad as they put up 49 big points and sank 18-31 of their shot attempts and 2-5 from three point range. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done as no comeback would take place. 

For the visitors (4-10; 0-5 KIAC) Taylor Arthur played well as she led the way with 23 points. This included 8-12 from the field and 7-9 from the charity stripe. She also hauled down 8 rebounds and added 2 steals. Also in double figures was Amber Shepherd with 14 points (6-10) and India Hairston-James with 10 (5-12). 

Brescia (8-9; 3-1 KIAC) placed five players in double figures, led by the conference’s leading scorer Julie Whitfill with 24. 

BU connected on 58% (42-72) and 11-26 (42.3%) from long range, and sank 90% (9-10) from the foul stripe, compared to ALC which was 42.6% (26-61) from the field, 2-13 (15.4%) from deep, and 12-14 (85.7%) from the charity stripe. The Bearcats also won the battle of the boards, 37-24. 

The Lady Eagles travel to Cincinnati Christian for a big conference showdown on Tuesday.
