The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee and Ashville, North Carolina over the weekend to play against Johnson University and Warren Wilson College. The Eagles earned a split in the series.  Below are recaps of each contest.

December 11

ALC- 61 – Johnson-54

In the opening half, ALC’s Amber Shepherd had the hot hand as she helped the Eagles to a 34-26 lead at the break.

In the second half, Johnson fought to reduce the deficit. Fortunately for the Eagles, they refused to surrender their lead and held on for the hard fought victory.

For ALC (4-7), they were led in scoring by Shepherd with 23 points on 9-20 field goals. She added 3 rebounds.  Taylor Arthur had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Megan Jones also reached double figures with 10. Tailor Morgan led in assists with 3.

December 12

ALC- 73 – Warren Wilson-78

 A frigid start doomed the Lady Eagles on the road as Warren Wilson jumped out to a 27-11 lead. They went into intermission ahead 39-26.

 Sparked by 16 second-half points from Taylor Arthur, the Lady Eagles fought furiously to reduce the deficit and get themselves back in contention. Unfortunately, the big hole was too much to overcome as their rally fell just short.

For ALC (4-8) Arthur led the way with 20 points. She pulled down 14 rebounds to record her double-double of the season.

Megan Jones sank 4 shots from downtown for 12 points while Sara Robinson contributed 10. Tailor Morgan led in assists with 4.
