The Alice Lloyd Eagles earned a heart-stopping 84-83 double-overtime victory over NCAA Division II opponent Spring Hill College on Wednesday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center in Mobile, Alabama.

The Eagles connected on 53.7 % from the field in the opening half to take a 37-29 lead at intermission, and held their advantage for most of the second half. However, much to the delight of the home crowd, the Badgers stormed back from a 10-point deficit (60-50) with just 5:07 left on the clock.

After slicing the deficit to 3 at 60-57, Spring Hill sent the contest into overtime when freshman guard Sawyer Glick  sank an off-balance 3-pointer from the far left baseline corner with one second left on the clock.

In the first OT, the roles were reversed; The Eagles trailed 76-74, and held the ball for one final shot. A missed three pointer was corralled by ALC guard Austin Crisp who scored in the paint with just .8 seconds showing to knot the game at 76-76.

In overtime number two, both clubs continued to battle as neither was willing to back down. ALC had the lead at 83-80 with 28 seconds left only to see SHC sophomore guard Matevz Rojc  knot the contest once more by sinking a bomb from the top of the key with 28 seconds on the clock.

On their next possession, the Eagles ran the game clock down to two seconds before finding freshman Shane Hall. Hall made a strong post move and was fouled to prevent the bucket. With the home crowd desperately hoping for two misses, Hall missed the first, but swished the second attempt which proved the game winner. A last chance goal for Spring Hill was prevented when their long in-bound pass was intercepted by forward Tyler Rogers at midcourt.

For the winners (5-7), Cody Stumbo scored 21 points highlighted by a 9-for-9 night at the free throw line. Rogers added 16 for the visitors while Hall contributed 14 points. Mason Pack added 13 points, and Crisp chipped in 10 points. For the game, the Eagles shot a solid 55.1% (27-49) with a 38.9% (7-18) showing from behind the arc.

Two guards, Stumbo and Crisp, tied for team rebounding honors with 6 apiece. Crisp also led both teams with 7 assists.

Spring Hill (1-8) shot 42.5% (31-73) from the field including a 35.3% (6-17) effort from 3-point distance. Glick scored 21 points to lead the Badgers.
