Alice Lloyd senior Tyler Rogers put on a dominant performance to lead the Alice Lloyd Eagles to a commanding 82-66 victory over the Asbury University Eagles 82-66 Wednesday evening. The contest was played at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center.

In the opening half, AU guard Tyler Smith scored 12 points to stake his team to a 26-19 advantage.

Needing a response, Alice Lloyd Coach JR Hammond instructed his club to feed Rogers. He promptly led his club on a 10-2 run to put them ahead, 29-28.

Much to the delight of the home crowd, Rogers was just warming up. He scored 12 straight points overall to propel the host Eagles to a 41-33 lead at intermission.

Alice Lloyd opened the second half by finding Rogers for a nifty bucket inside, followed by a Cody Stumbo triple on the ensuing possession. The visitors were forced to call a quick timeout trailing 46-33.

After the timeout, Asbury managed to reduce the lead to 9 (53-44) by the 16:04 mark. The host Eagles responded with a 7-0 spurt over the next 1:06 when Trevor Combs drained a three, followed by back-to-back layups from Austin Crisp. The Eagles then proceeded to extend that run to a devastating 23-8, to take their biggest lead of the night (77-52) with 7:30 remaining; they coasted to the easy victory from there.

For Alice Lloyd (6-7; 2-1 KIAC), Rogers was the man all night as he flirted with a triple double. He finished with a game high 28 points on 12-16 field goals and 4-5 free throws. He also added game highs with 9 rebounds, 8 blocks, 4 assists, and 3 huge dunks.

He was followed by freshman Shane Hall with 13 points,9 rebounds, 4 blocks, and several crowd-pleasing slams of his own. Crisp added 12 while Combs hit three trifectas for 9.

Asbury (8-8; 1-2 KIAC) was led by Kyle Lamb with 15 points.

The statistics show how dominate the hosts were. They hit 30-64 from the field (46.9%), 6-17 (35.3%) from long range, and 16-24 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. They also had 47 rebounds, 15 assists, and 13 blocks.

The visitors finished 24-70 from the field (34.3%), 3-16(18.8%) from the three point line, and a solid 15-19 (78.9%) from the foul line. They also had 35 rebounds, 3 assists, and 0 blocks.
