The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to Barbourville, KY over the weekend end to participate in the challenging Union Bulldog Classic for two games. Following are recaps of both match-ups.

Friday November 13

ALC Eagles-55 – Milligan Buffaloes-71

In the opening contest, the Buffs pulled away from a 6-6 tie to jump out to a 24-11 after one quarter.

In the second quarter, the Eagles tighten up defensively and forced 8 turnovers to whittle the deficit down to six (26-20) at 4:00. When the buzzer sounded for intermission, Milligan went into the locker room leading 33-25.
 
In the second half, MC opened on fire, scoring 11 quick points. ALC would make a run to get within 11, but they were never able to reduce the Milligan lead back within single digits.

 Alice Lloyd (1-3) was led by Taylor Arthur’s double-double effort of 25 points and 10 rebounds. India Hairston-James chipped in with 11 points with 10 rebounds.

Milligan (5-0) was led by Haley Wyrick with 24.

Saturday November 14

For the second consecutive game, ALC fell behind early, clawed their way back, but eventually fell to the nation’s 19th ranked squad.

Union raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. The Eagles battled back to tie things up at 10 with 4:03 remaining in the quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers by the Bulldogs closed out the quarter with Union leading 16-13.

Alice Lloyd pulled within 20-19 on a Megan Jones three-pointer with 7:25 remaining until halftime.  When the horn sounded for intermission, UC led 35-28.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 15-7, taking a 50-35 lead into the final stanza. ALC battled hard but was unable to recover from the deficit.

For the victors (3-0), Lydia Nash finished with a game 20 points and 11 rebounds.

ALC (1-4) was led by Jones with 19. She was the only player to reach double figures.
