Cross Country

The Alice Lloyd Eagle’s cross country teams traveled to the University of Rio Grande to compete in the KIAC Cross Country Championships on November 7th, 2015. Despite the horrendously cold temperatures, the day proved to be a successful one for both the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Both Britney Buttrey and Shiloh Jekel on the women’s team set personal records on the 5k course at Rio. Buttrey was the first Lady Eagle to cross the finish line with in 21:58 placing 28th over-all while Jekel was the 47th runner to cross the line with a time of 23:37. 

Jacob Medley was the first Eagle on the men’s side to cross the finish line. Medley placed 47th over-all with a finishing time of 31:13 missing his personal record by 7 seconds. Andrew Stidham was the next male finisher from Alice Lloyd, as he ran 33:59 this past Saturday to place 67th.

Finishing right behind Stidham in 68th place was John Driskill. He had a finishing time of 34:09. Zach Templeton and Caleb Mills were the next Eagles to cross the line placing 76th, and 79th. Templeton ran a person record of 37 minutes and 18 seconds; Mills finished with a 38:35.

Shiloh Jekel and Jacob Medley were also awarded with the team NAIA Champions of Character Award by the conference for exemplifying the 5 core values of the NAIA. After the race both Jekel and Medley joked about being twins at the race because the both finish 47th over-all in their races, and the were recognized for the same award.
