JBS Volleyball1The JBS varsity volleyball team opens the 2015 Volleyball season with a match against Buckhorn in Perry County, Kentucky on August 20th. Buckhorn is currently 1-1 on the year.  Buchanan showed the potential for a promising new season in a scrimmage against Letcher County Central last week. The Crusaders currently have a 21 game schedule, but they could hopefully end up playing longer into the post season. First year Coach Rex Frohnaofel, along with his wife and assistant, Pam Frohnaofel, believes that although the team is very inexperienced, they are eager to learn and play their best.

Currently the small team is paced by seniors Megan Hall, Tyra Lamb and Breana Conley, while juniors Kendall Pollard and Ruby Yeary will be looked upon for additional leadership. This season, JBS is adding several basketball players to the team who should provide needed depth. Sophomores Lindsey Proffitt, Brianna Harrington, and Alexis Lykins are quickly developing into very talented volleyball players.  Freshman Anika Thacker and Hope Watts, along with 7th graders Chloe Watts and Carly Lafferty are showing promise for the future in JBS’s volleyball program.

With the returning players and new additions, the Crusaders volleyball team can potentially put together a history making team. This season’s goal is to initially earn the first varsity win in JBS history, and from there help the program continue to build.
