The Lady Eagles opened tournament play against the leagues number one team, the nationally ranked 26-5 Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers. ALC battled tooth and nail before succumbing in the end.

The contest was scoreless as Eagle pitcher Whitley Albury kept the Grenadiers in check until the third inning. IUS broke through with 2 in the bottom of the third, but then went scoreless once more. The Eagles scattered 7 hits but were unable to get the one key hit they desperately needed to drive in the tying run. Finally in the bottom of the fifth, the top seed pulled away with a 5 run inning and held on for the victory. Catcher Megan Boswell led the way with 2 hits. Albury took the loss on the mound.

Game 2

ALC-0; Brescia-1

In the double elimination format, ALC next faced the fourth seeded Brescia Bearcats. Eagle freshman Morgan Albury pitched an outstanding game, but saw her club fall in a heartbreaker, 1-0.

The matchup turned into a pitcher’s duel between Albury and Bearcat Shelby Franklin. Franklin tossed a solid 5 hitter, but Albury did her one better by only allowing 4 hits. BU scored the lone run on a Karen Wade RBI in the second. ALC threatened to tie the game when Megan Jones swatted a double, but unfortunately she was left stranded on base. Despite being credited with the loss, Albury tossed a brilliant game.
