The Alice Lloyd College Eagles golf team recently competed in the UPike MSC Tournament, hosted by the University of Pikeville. The two day event, which began on March 30, was held at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg.

This was the last regular tournament of the year and the first year Eagles golf has completed a full season of golf competition. When the dust had settled, ALC shot 366 for the first round and 355 in the second round to finish 10th of 10.

Tyler Hayes led the Eagles with a two day result of 83/86. This gave him a score of 169 over the event, and placed him in a tie for 39th out of 58 participants.

Despite high winds which made conditions very difficult for the second day, the Eagles were the only team to significantly improve their scores over the two day event. Encouragingly, this is the second time this season that ALC team scores improved from the first round to the second round. Josh Arnold led the Eagles the second day with an 85, which was a solid 9 stroke improvement over his first day score.

The golf team has come a long way this year but the players still have a way to go to reach their destination. However, the squad is confident that the path is clear, and with hard work, they can get there.
