At the start of this double header, Justin Smith took his spot on the mound to face off against Rio Grande. Smith began this game in fantastic fashion, allowing no hits to the Red Storm in the first inning. In the bottom on the inning, the Eagles quickly took control. A powerful triple by Trae Minton was immediately followed by an RBI single from Austin White, giving the Eagles a quick 1-0 lead.  From that point, a pitching battle ensued as Smith and Red Storm hurler Daryin Lewis threw scoreless ball over the next four innings. In the sixth inning the visitors finally broke through as they smacked a double, followed by a triple. One bat later, a fielder’s choice brought in the second run. One inning later, they added an all-important insurance run, as a two out walk and a stolen base were followed by a single to make the score 3-1 .Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to retaliate in both the sixth and seventh innings. The hosts had 3 errors which over shadowed the single error by Rio Grande.  Smith suffered the loss despite throwing a stellar game.

Game 2

The second game was a much different event for the Eagles. Over the first two innings neither team scored a run, but then in the third Rio Grande broke away with 4 runs. The Eagles used four pitchers that game including Ryan Burrow, Broderick Moore, Karson Glancy, and Jesse Hall, but were unable to stem the tide in their favor. Burrow suffered the loss.
