The ALC men’s golf team played in the Point University Skyhawk Invitational at the Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Georgia on March 8 and March 9. It was great to get out of the ice and snow and into some nice spring weather. The course is a quality championship layout that has hosted PGA Tour events. Point University did a great job hosting the event. Eagles golfers hit the ball very well from tee to green, especially given it was our first event of the year. However, once the Eagles got to the greens the rust and the tricky hybrid Bermuda greens took their toll. Eagles finished 5th of 5 teams out of a very strong field. Conference rival IU East, 3rd highest ranked KIAC team in Golfstat, was 4th of 5 teams. The event was won by the host team. Eagles golfers made a lot of very high quality shots tee to green. Had they had a decent short game the Eagles would have scored very well, and the good news to this is that the short game can be mastered with some time and effort.

The Eagles next event is the Southeast Kentucky Invitational hosted by The University of the Cumberlands and Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, KY on March 23 and 24.
