.After a five week period of being unable to even practice outside, The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball team finally returned to the field for a series at Hiwassee College. Here is a recap of the series.
March 16
Game 1
ALC-1; Hiwassee-5
The Eagles played hard but showed the ill-effects of a long layoff as they dropped the opener. Timmy Sublett pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 runs. At the plate, catcher Ronnie Saylor and second baseman Wyatt Hamilton each rapped 2 hits apiece; both of Saylor’s fell for doubles. The Eagles were outhit 14-5.
Game 2
ALC- 1; Hiwasee-2
The Eagles pitched a solid game, but left the tying run on base when the contest ended.
Third baseman Greg Wright smacked 2 of the 6 hits. On the mound, Austin Johnson and Aaron Bolling combined to allow only 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. Bolling suffered the hard-luck decision.
