The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles journeyed to Berea, Kentucky Tuesday night to face the home-standing Mountaineers in a non-conference matchup. When the smoke cleared, the home team had won by a count of 95-71.

In the opening stanza, the Eagles came out of the gates firing from three pointer range, and the game was knotted at 7 with 16:41 remaining.  However, over the next six minutes, Berea went on a 21-7 run to race out to a fourteen point lead (28-14). Backed by the strength of 51% shooting from the floor, the hosts led by 17 (48-31) at intermission.

In the second half, ALC had trouble containing BC and their continued hot- shooting. The visitors made several small runs, but were unable to mount a comeback.

For ALC (6-16), Carla Booth led the way with 20 points. She connected on four long range bombs and added 4 rebounds. Amber Shepherd chipped in with 13 points and handed off a team-high 6 assists, while Morgan Chestnut added 13 points and 4 rebounds. Carla McDaniel hauled down 8 rebounds to pace the squad in that department.

The Mountaineers (10-8) were led by Adriana Williams with a game high 25 points.

On this night, Alice Lloyd shot just 33.8% (23-71) from the field. They were stronger from long range, connecting on 35.7% (10-28) from behind the arc. They were a solid 86.7% (13-15) from the charity stripe. They also had 29 rebounds and 17 assists.

Berea shot a blistering 53% (35-66) from the field including 40% (4-10) from long range, and was 67.7% (21-31) from the charity stripe. They also had 45 rebounds and 18 assists.

The Lady Eagles return to the hardwood this Saturday at 2pm as they square off in a conference showdown doubleheader with Asbury University.
