The Alice Lloyd Eagles returned to the Grady Nutt Athletic Center on Friday to face the defending conference champion Cincinnati Christian University Eagles. The visitors controlled the contest to earn a 78-60 victory.

In the first half, the game was nip and tuck throughout the first ten minutes. Leading by just two (14-12), CCU would control the remainder of the half. When their point guard CJ McCommons sank a long range bomb with 7 seconds remaining, it gave his team 35-24 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the visitors scored the first seven point of the half to leap ahead by eighteen (42-24) with 17:30 remaining.

The hosts tried to respond as they went on a 22-16 run over the next nine minutes to reduce the deficit to twelve (58-46).

Unfortunately for the home team, sparked by big man Kenny Gaynor, the guests went on a 13-4 spurt over the next three minutes to put the game out of reach.

For ALC (10-14; 5-4 KIAC), Tyler Rogers and Trevor Tiller each tossed in 11 points. Cody Stumbo chipped in with 10. Rogers led the night with 8 rebounds, while Austin Crisp had 4 assists.

For CCU (17-7; 5-2 KIAC), Gaynor led all scorers with 17 points.

On the night, Alice Lloyd shot 41.2% from the floor (30-59) including 40.9% from long range (6-19). CCU shot 50.8% from the floor (30-59), and 40.9% from long distance (9-22).

Alice Lloyd hit 75% of their free-throws (12-16) compared to the hosts 81.8% (9-11). The visitors also won the battle of the boards, 32-25.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday as they face the Asbury University Eagles. Tipoff is scheduled for 4pm.
